To care, inspire and excel...

Welcome to Year 4/5 L

Welcome to Class 5/4 L!

Mrs. Legowska, Mrs. Howit, Mrs.Newland and Mrs.Cole help us to make learning fun and help us if things get a little tricky!

We will be doing lots of exciting things this term throughout our curriculum...

In Literacy we are looking at persuasive writing with the aim of producing a film trailer! Watch this space...

In Numeracy, we are making sure that everyone feels confident about maths and stretching those who are confident!

In Science we are learning all about gases and keeping warm and in RE we will be looking at what religion means to the individual.

We are also very excited, as this term we are working with Mr. Wood at Dartmouth Community College. We will be learning all about renewable energy sources and making our own windmill (albeit model sized!)

Our whole class will be learning to play the violin. (Earplugs are available from reception!) We are really looking forward to having a go at playing the violin and really pleased that we have been given this opportunity.

In gymnastics, our core task will be to put together a sequence of balances leading into a change of face and direction.

We are also doing invasion games this term with Mrs. Preston.

In Geography, we will be looking at improving and respecting the environment (linking in with our DT).

Finally, we have just finished our topic on World War II. We have thoroughly enjoyed this topic! We were so lucky to be invited to Dartmouth Guildhall for a World War II experience afternoon. We designed food ration posters and these were displayed around the function room. We had the invaluable opportunity to meet with many local people who remembered the war. Excellent primary evidence!

We also had a day with RAMA Exeter and learnt about what it was like to be a child in Devon during World War II. Some of us even dressed up as children from the 1940s.

Mr and Mrs Jordan kindly came in to talk to us about rationing and what it was like to be evacuated, not from London, but from Blackawton and Slapton. It was fascinating!

This term we will be learning about Ancient Egyptians. We can't wait!
