Play

You are the most important factor in your child's education - you know your child best. Your interest, praise and encouragement will help him/her to grow in confidence, develop self - esteem and learn successfully.  If you are anxious or concerned your child is likely to become anxious.  Try not to compare your child with another; they are all wonderfully unique!  Each child will react to school differently, don't be surprised if your child comes home and is reluctant to speak about school or says they have been doing 'nothing' or 'just playing'.  At first it is difficult for young children to determine exactly what they have been engaged in during the day, as so many of the learning activities are delivered through structured play.  So don't be worried if you child seems to be playing a lot - they are learning at the same time!
