Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a relaxing holiday. It was lovely to welcome your children back to school yesterday, and to see them settle into their new classes.

Access to school

You will have noticed that the children’s centre has not been completed on time - it will now be handed over in a couple of weeks. Because the outside work is finished, it is now safe to use the path between the children’s centre and the main school. Please use this entrance when bringing your children to school and picking them up at the end of the day – when the fence is removed the path will be much wider and flatter. The temporary path onto the playground is now closed.

SATs results

The Year 6 children who left last year did very well in their end of year SATs tests, keeping up the good recent performance of the school. At the end of Year 6, a level 4 represents national average performance and a level 5 represents well above average performance. Our children achieved the following results:

Congratulations to those children, who once again have contributed to the success of the school. We wish them well at the Community College.

PE kit

Could I please remind you that children need to have their PE kit in school at all times. Although children do have PE at regular scheduled times, they do sometimes have additional lessons and it can make it difficult or uncomfortable for children to participate if they do not have the correct kit. PE kit for boys and girls is white T-shirt, black shorts and plimsolls. During the winter months it is helpful if the children have a warm tracksuit or similar for outdoor games.  Please ensure that PE kit, like all school uniform, is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

 

School meals

With this letter I have included a copy of the latest menu for school meals. The cost of a meal remains £1.85, and children can have as many or as few meals as they like each week. If you think your child may be eligible for free school meals, please talk to Mrs Callis in the school office, who will be able to help you out.
