Dear Parents,

Holiday
Just a reminder that school closes at the end of Friday 4th April, and will be closed for two weeks. We re-open on Monday 21st April. I hope that you all have an enjoyable holiday.

Building
Thank-you for your patience and co-operation during the current building work – the system for getting into the school grounds seems to be working well. So far the building is on schedule for its finishing date of 25th July – let’s hope it continues. Over the next holiday the building itself will be delivered (on the back of 19 articulated lorries!), so when we return there should be something to see.

Healthy Schools Award
Our school was recently awarded the Devon Healthy School’s award – you will see our new sign outside the entrance. This recognises the success we have in promoting a whole range of social and health issues across the school. We were assessed against 61 different standards and were shown to be good or outstanding in 42 of these; overall we were judged to be good. This is great news for the school, and our success is largely due to the hard work of Mrs Bray, Mrs Young and the school council – thank-you to them all.

Meeting
I mentioned a little while ago that I would be holding a series of drop-in meetings for parents. These are an opportunity to chat with me about anything to do with the school – positive or not – in an informal way. The next meeting will be on Friday May 2nd, at 11.00 in school. Please feel free to come along.

School  Meals
I am afraid that Devon County Council has raised the price of a school meal to £1.85, from 21st April. I’m sure you will agree that this still represents good value for a hot, nutritious meal at lunchtime. Payments can be made as usual in cash or by cheque (payable to Devon County Council) to Mrs Callis in the school office. In addition, there is now a system for online payments –  please talk to Mrs Callis about the details if you are interested.
